Laguna Sentinels

Snow in San Diego. It doesn’t happen often but when it does, it’s absolutely magical! A late winter storm brought cold enough temperatures and enough moisture to cover the local mountains in a blanket of snow. Of course I had to take advantage of the conditions and adventure out to play in the snow while trying to create an image or two. I was expecting a few inches of snow from past experiences but wow I was not expecting the white out storm I drove into!

I strapped on my snowshoes and headed out to one of my favorite areas to photograph trees. When I walked up to this scene I knew immediately it was an image I wanted to capture. I normally try to exclude human elements from my images but the fence here is an integral part of the story and it belonged in this image. The larger trees surrounding the smaller, new growth tree in front, reminds me of the elders surrounding the new comer to provide protection and encouragement. This has quickly become one of my favorite images I’ve ever created.

Below is a short video of my day playing in the snow, what an amazing day!

Thanks as always for following along on my journey, I appreciate your support. I hope you enjoy my images as much as I do creating them. Feel free to reach out if you a comment, question or jut want to say hey.
