On the final evening of my trip, just as the light began to fade, I came across a striking white birch tree—and at its base, a red fox napping peacefully in the snow. I watched from a respectful distance, not wanting to disturb it. As I turned to leave, the fox stirred, wandered off a few paces, then sat and stared back at the tree—almost as if admiring it, just as I had moments before.
